What is the Iveagh X-Wick?
Our X-Wick is crafted from FSC-certified wood, creating a rich, crackling sound that brings the warmth of a real bonfire into your space. Designed to enhance your candle experience, it adds ambiance, depth, and a sense of calm to every flicker. It’s not just a wick, it’s part of the moment. You can find our more via our blog HERE
How do I get the best burn from my candle?
To ensure an optimal burn:
- Trim the wick to 5mm before each use.
- Allow the wax to melt edge to edge on the first burn (this prevents tunneling).
- Burn for 2-4 hours at a time for an even melt pool.

Why is my candle tunneling?
Tunneling happens when the wax doesn’t melt evenly. To prevent this, always burn your candle long enough for the wax to fully reach the edges, especially on the first burn.
If your candle has started tunneling (when the wick burns down the middle, leaving wax along the edges), don’t worry there’s an easy fix! Here’s how to use the tin foil trick to save your candle and get an even burn:
Step-by-Step Guide: The Tin Foil Trick to Fix Tunneling
Stop Burning the Candle
Before you do anything, make sure the candle is completely cooled. Never attempt to fix tunneling while the wax is still hot.
Get Some Tinfoil
Cut a piece of tinfoil large enough to wrap around the top of the candle, leaving some space in the center to allow the wick to breathe.
Create a Dome Shape
Gently wrap the foil around the candle, forming a dome shape that covers the top and extends down the sides. Ensure that the foil is securely wrapped, but not too tight—there should be a little space for the heat to circulate.
Place the Candle Back to Burn
Light the candle and let it burn for 1-2 hours. The foil will trap the heat and allow the outer wax to soften and melt, encouraging an even burn all the way to the edge.
Monitor the Candle
Keep an eye on the candle while it burns, ensuring the foil stays in place and there’s no excessive heat buildup. Once the candle has melted evenly across the top, you can remove the foil.
Enjoy Your Candle Again
After the top layer has melted and the tunneling is fixed, you can continue to burn your candle as normal. No more tunneling!
Why is my wick burning too fast?
If your wick is burning too quickly, trim it to 5mm before each use. A pair of flat-edged nail clippers works wonderfully with our premium X wick. This helps maintain a steady flame and prevents excess flickering.
Why is my candle smoking?
A flickering or smoking candle is usually caused by:
- A wick that’s too long (trim it to 5mm).
- Drafts or airflow affecting the flame.
- Burning for too long (keep burns between 2-4 hours).
Are your candles heavily scented?
Our goal is to create a balanced fragrance throw that fills a room with warmth and depth, without being overwhelming. If you feel the fragrance isn't as strong as you'd like, try burning it in a smaller space and ensure you’re following the proper burn instructions to get the best fragrance experience.
